Lexis Brisbane – A Trip to the Queensland Gallery of Modern Art – 24.03.23

Art Gallery

An Artistic End to the Week!

Last Friday, the students at Lexis Brisbane channelled their inner Picasso and made the Queensland Art Gallery and Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA) their classroom for the afternoon. After only a short bus ride from King George Square to Southbank, the students were able to feast their eyes on some of Australia’s finest art pieces from all regions of the country, including the work of some of the most renowned Indigenous artists.

Led by enthusiastic teacher Jordan, the students were introduced to diverse and thought-provoking pieces, ranging from interactive installations to paintings and sculptures. There was so much to see!

The visit to QAGOMA was a fantastic opportunity for the students to learn outside of the traditional classroom and to engage with contemporary art in a meaningful way. It was also particularly exciting to introduce Australian Indigenous art to the students, being such an integral part of Australia’s history and culture.

Whether it was a painting, sculpture, photograph, or video, the pieces to be seen at QAGOMA really were a treat for the afternoon, and a great way to start the weekend!
