At Lexis Brisbane, we’ve been focusing on creating fun, memorable, and truly enjoyable experiences for our students. From stepping out of our comfort zones and trying a dance class to exploring Queensland Museum and its one-of-a-kind exhibitions. We’ve also enjoyed cooking delicious meals and snacks from our home countries, sharing them with friends and classmates for our spectacular International Lunch. Each activity has been a fantastic opportunity to build connections, create lifelong memories, and improve our English. It’s been a truly unique, once-in-a-lifetime experience!

Hip Hop Dance Class at Mad Dance House

Hip Hop

Trying something new and stepping out of your comfort zone is what we strive for at Lexis Brisbane! Being courageous and never judging. We had an absolute blast learning new hip-hop styles and choreography, hosted by Mad House Dance, one of Brisbane’s best dance studios. Tricky P, our amazing teacher, is not only a Hip Hop Dancer but a professional DJ.

The tunes throughout the class were top-notch. Everyone felt immediately comfortable. Suleyman was not only the only male in attendance, but he got into his groove and out of his shell and really tried throughout the class. He added his own moves and some touches of Turkish dancing.

Semanur really brought the vibes to this hip hop class. She was always up for anything and not shy to be at the front, giving all the others confidence. She was encouraging everyone and making sure the girlies that haven’t done dancing before were comfortable and ok. True friendship. Hina, who recently graduated, had previous experience in the dance studio. When in Japan, she would regularly attend dance classes in various styles. She loved getting back into dance.

Queensland Museum

Our Lexis students had an unforgettable visit to the Queensland Museum, where one of the highlights was the incredible dinosaur exhibition. Stepping into the dinosaur area felt like travelling back millions and millions of years, giving students a glimpse of what Queensland once looked like when it was home to prehistoric giants.

They explored real dinosaur fossils discovered across the state, learning about the species that once roamed the land and how scientists piece together the history of Queensland.

It was especially fascinating to discover how some modern animals are still connected to dinosaurs today, with birds and reptiles sharing traits that date back to prehistoric times. The experience sparked curiosity, conversation, and plenty of excitement as students imagined life in ancient Queensland.

International Lunch

Our International Lunch at Lexis Brisbane was a huge success, filled with delicious food, laughter, and cultural sharing. Omar and Edo treated everyone to a homemade tiramisu from Italy, which was an absolute hit—especially with Quentin, who loved it so much he convinced Edo to hand over the empty container just so he could scrape up every last bit!

A group of students from Switzerland—Timon, Livia, Shuya, and Stefan—came together to prepare three different dishes, putting in so much effort and giving everyone the chance to try something completely new. We also enjoyed a variety of snacks and dishes from Japan, Korea, and Taiwan, making the event a true global feast.

To top it all off, David brought in hot Champurrado for everyone to try—a traditional drink usually enjoyed during the winter season, especially around Día de la Candelaria. It was such a fun and memorable afternoon celebrating food, culture, and community.
