Hiking, Trivia, Ice Cream and Afternoon Drinks on the Brisbane River

Mount Coot-tha;
Wednesday afternoon in Brisbane greeted us with clear skies and strong sunshine as we gathered at the base of Mount Coot-tha to begin our hike to the summit. Spirits were high, especially for those experiencing their first hike.
The boys — Timon, Stefan, Timo, and Sven — naturally took the lead, drawing on their experience from hiking in Switzerland. With confidence and a steady pace, they set the tone for the group as we started our ascent, ready for the challenge ahead.
Once we reached the top, we were amazed by the spectacular views over Brisbane. From the lookout at Mount Coot-tha, the city in view, with the river stretched out to sea and greenery surrounding it. It was a moment that made the climb worth it.
We took photos to capture the view and enjoyed a well-earned ice cream while taking everything in. As we waited for the bus back to Lexis, the group relaxed and chatted about life, introducing ourselves more properly and sharing stories. Some even started making plans for the weekend. With laughter in the air and the backdrop of Brisbane, it was hard to complain about a day like this.
Trivia and Ice Cream
With Brisbane still being so hot in April. We got to create our own perfect sundae. Each had their own cones, scooping their ice cream of choice, Chocolate, Strawberry or Vanilla, some choosing all three. Covering their ice cream with chocolate sauce and topping their sundae off with rainbow sprinkles.
We played a 40-question general knowledge trivia game, with the competition heating up as the rounds went on. By the end, it came down to three teams battling for first place, each staying close on points and pushing right to the final questions. In the end, Simge, Luica, and Mirkos’ team came out on top, securing the win with a strong, consistent performance throughout the game.
We played two more Kahoot quizzes to test our knowledge of flags from around the world, and I was really impressed by how much many of the students knew.

Friday Afternoon at Felons
On Friday afternoon, we took a relaxing walk along the Brisbane River waterfront to Felons Brewing Co. We spent the afternoon soaking up the sun with amazing views of the Story Bridge and the river. Everyone enjoyed delicious beers crafted right there at Felons while playing their favourite card games from their home countries.
One group played “Sandwich” from Switzerland, a fast-paced game similar to Snap but with more rules and even more competitiveness, which brought lots of laughter. Another table played a Japanese card game where players pick from each other to make pairs, while others joined in a fun and interactive drinking game that even saw Alonso from Chile down his beer.
With a great group of Lexis students chatting, laughing, and enjoying the sunshine, it was the perfect way to end a fantastic week.
