Daiki Nakajima at Lexis Noosa
Daiki came from Japan to Noosa to share his values, make friends from other cultures, and improve his English — while balancing work at a busy Korean kitchen with his studies.

Why study English
“The main purpose was to make new friends, but I also wanted to share my values with others as a Japanese person. I wanted to learn about other people and their culture and I would like them to know more about Japan too.”
“It might be difficult to understand our origin and our values in Japan because everyone is Japanese. But if I go to other countries like Australia, I can easily find the difference between myself and others.”
Working & studying
Daiki found work at Haru Korean Kitchen with help from the Lexis job workshop — the teacher helped with his resume, taught him how to apply for jobs, and showed him how to get his RSA. Working three days a week meant busy days, but a good balance overall.

His advice
For learning English or having a life in Noosa or Australia, it’s amazing. If someone wants to study here, I would really recommend talking to as many students as possible — each person has a different personality or a funny story. Speak English at school to improve quickly. Go outside and enjoy the nature and wildlife Australia has to offer as much as possible.

After Noosa
Daiki is heading to Sydney to continue studying for four months — learning about Indigenous history and art. Before that, three or four weeks travelling around Australia. And one thing he’s certain about: he’ll come back to Noosa.
