On Friday our activity was Yin Yoga.
Yin Yoga is slow-paced style of yoga where the postures are held for longer periods of time than in other yoga styles – (sometimes for five minutes or more). Yin Yoga poses increase circulation in the joints, improve flexibility and help relax and stabilise the mind.
Friday’s class was all about opening the hips and the hamstrings so we did a series of supine (on back) and seated stretches. It doesn’t look like hard work but when you hold the pose for longer than a few minutes all the connective tissues begins to release, resulting in a very deep stretch! Everyone felt very relaxed afterwards.
