Byron Bay – Where is Alisha now? – 30 September 20

Where are they now?

We’re asking some past staff and students to tell us a bit about what’s happening now in their life after Lexis. This week we interview the lovely new mummy and ex-Student Services and Activities Officer, Alisha!

Where are you now?

Right now I am at home in Brunswick Heads, snuggled up in bed feeding my 10 month old son Rudi.

How long did you work at Lexis?

I started working at Lexis in March last year! It was the evening before my first official day that I found out I was having a baby! So I only worked 7 months before leaving to become a mother.

When did you leave, and where did you go?

I left at the end of October and within a week of leaving I had my baby. We are lucky to be living in Brunswick Heads. We have a wonderful community here and love spending our days at the river or down at Torakina beach.

What was a highlight of working at Lexis English?

Getting to be the judge for Crepe making competitions and the abundance of Tim tams haha!!! There are so many amazing memories! Working at Lexis was the best job I have ever had and I feel so lucky I got to meet so many wonderful people in my short time as Student Services officer! Also the incredible staff, we had so much fun in the office!

What do you miss about Byron Bay?

I really miss the night life in Byron Bay! I miss all of the live music. I miss the buskers in the street. I miss meeting interesting people at the Rails. I miss the front room at the Northern after midnight when it would be full of people and you couldn’t move without spilling your drink on someone. I miss going to the bakery at 3am and getting a spinach and ricotta pie (or three haha). I miss the undeniable magic of Byron Bay and all the wonderful people it attracts!

Tell us about what life’s like now:

Life is very different for me now. No more partying (only the occasional Sunday afternoon at the Bruns Pub). I feel like I spend most of my day chasing around Rudi, trying to get him to stop eating gross things off the ground. We spend a lot of the time at the beach and I have become quite fond of afternoon naps! Life is very slow now, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!
