A Memorable Walk and Talk
After a busy morning of placement tests, orientation, and a taste of the classroom environment, the students were in for a treat—an afternoon walk and talk with one of our beloved teachers, Rain. This wasn’t just any regular stroll; it was a chance to explore the local area, take in some fresh air, and discover more about the community.
As they wandered through the streets, the students had the chance to spot something a bit unexpected: bats! A little wildlife spotting always adds an element of surprise, and this was no exception. The students were fascinated by these flying creatures, which added a unique twist to their day.
The group’s adventure didn’t stop there. They were lucky enough to witness a special moment when the shopkeeper at the Aboriginal art shop played the didgeridoo. The deep, resonant sound of the instrument echoed through the air, offering a real cultural experience. It was a magical, unplanned moment that gave everyone a deeper appreciation for the traditions of the area.
But the surprises didn’t end there! As they continued on their walk, the students had the chance to meet a local snake catcher. Watching him in action, they learned about the importance of these animals in the local ecosystem, and how the snake catcher safely handles and relocates any snakes that may find their way into the community.
All in all, it was a day full of unexpected experiences and cultural learning, offering the students a deeper connection to the place they’re now calling home for a little while. It’s these unique moments that make their time here truly unforgettable!
