Byron Bay – Meet our New Starters – 30 May 2022

Today we had four new starters in total; 3 from Japan (Chikae, Saori and Natsuki) and one from Chile (Jose).

Today'S New Starters At Lexis Byron Bay.

Chikae used to be a kindergarten teacher but, for the last two years, has worked as a barista. Now she’s here in Australia on a working holiday visa and hoping to get a job in coffee shop. While at Lexis she hopes to improve her English, her surfing and her latte art skills.

Saori has already been to Australia four times. She came once for work as a Nike Master Trainer and she is passionate about her job as a fitness instructor. While she’s in Byron Bay she wants to work at an organic restaurant or shop as she is really interested in organic produce and health.

Natsuki is a nurse so has a very busy and stressful job back home in Japan. She said that she has come here for a rest. She likes music, camping and sightseeing so I’m sure will have a great time here in Byron shire. She said that she finds speaking the most difficult aspect of English so she hopes to get a lot better at this while she is here.

Finally, Jose is visiting Australia for the first time. He said it took over 45 hours of travel time to get here. He studied Eco-tourism back home and currently works in farm administration. This is why he chose to study in Byron Bay – because he wanted to be somewhere rural. He said he finds listening the most difficult English skill, especially with the Australian accent.

We look forward to getting know all our new starters better over the next few weeks.
