Veronica!
Tell us a little about yourself Veronica:
My name is Veronica. I’m from Brazil, but I live in Portugal. I worked with wheelchair uses in Brazil, and in Portugal developed my project taking care of elderly people’s bodies. I studied for 4 years and learned the body is a tool for life, and I needed to take care of it in order to have a long life. I developed the project of helping elderly people during this time.
I teach dance in theatre and for people in wheelchairs. My dance is contemporary ballet.
Why did you choose Byron Bay?
I came to visit my 28-year-old son for a holiday 5 months ago. I was supposed to go home, but with each day I realised I was unable to return home because of the corona virus. I despaired over my situation, but had to accept that I will be staying here for a while.
What I received in this opportunity to stay was to learn another language. It’s something that thousands of people would wish to be able to do. This time gives me that chance and I am very grateful.
What were your weaknesses in English before you came to Australia? Tell me more about your teachers and your classes.
I knew nothing!
My teachers are excellent. Adrienne (Pre-Intermediate) and Kristy (private lessons) are special. Kristy is relaxed and calm. Adrienne is vibrant and active. They’re both special and different. Adrienne is full of life and does so many activities – paper, movies, listening, games…wow!
Learning in a group is excellent – I listen, read, observe…have conversations with people. I listen, repeat, listen, repeat, write…
School is the base, but the student needs to do the other part. I relax on my walk home, then get home and review the exercises of the day. At night I sleep listening to English on my phone. I don’t worry – I take it easy – because everything in life has to be BALANCED.
NOTE: Veronica came to us as a beginner and in 4 weeks she has gone from 0% to 62% in her tests – WELL DONE!!

EVERYTHING! Byron is very, very special. Byron is beautiful.

Lexis is also very, very special. Lisa, the teachers, the people, the accommodation…

Do it!
