Eglantine!
Tell us a little about yourself Eglantine:
I’m Eglantine. I am from Belgium. I went to Australia because the people said that it’s a beautiful country with a lot of different things to do. I decided to visit two different places. 1 big city (Melbourne) for the atmosphere, and 1 smaller town (Byron Bay). It was really good because I saw 2 different parts of Australia.
Why did you choose Byron Bay?
I wanted to try a big city and a smaller city in Australia. That is the reason why I chose to come to Byron Bay, because it is a smaller city. This has been good for me, the smaller city. It has been amazing, and has beautiful beaches and weather.
What were your weaknesses in English before you came to Australia? Tell me more about your teachers and your classes.
I couldn’t speak much English at all! Only the basics. I did learn a little at school, though not much at all!
Paul has been my teacher and he is so funny and is a good teacher. You can learn a lot but also in a fun and entertaining way.
What was your favourite activity?
I did a lot of activities! It’s hard to choose just one! Though I liked Coffee Club, anything with cooking, the BBQ’s and the Sweet Exchange where we all raised money for WIRES that help the animals that were affected by the bush fires.
Tell me about your accommodation/ homestay…
I stayed in homestay with a very good family, with a good host mother in Suffolk Park. Also while I was here I rented a bike. I would ride to school toegether with other students who lived in Suffolk Park too!
What are your favourite things to do in Byron?
Swimming in tea tree lake was one of my favourite places to go in Byron because there are not a lot of people. It is fresh water, so not salty and is really nice to swim in.
What is your most magical moment in Byron?
It’s nice to walk the streets of Byron Bay, especially at night. I like to listen to the buskers, and listen to their music. When I think of Byron that is what I think of.
