This month’s Happy Student is Ambre!
Ambre has been with us for 9 weeks and her overall stay with us is 20 weeks.she is currently in our FCE class and has participated in many activities. She is overall a shining light at Lexis Byron Bay. She is always bubbly, happy and willing to give anything a go! Ambre has recently had her 18th birthday with us and celebrated by having a barbeque with her friends that she has made in Byron Bay!
I interviewed her to get to know a little bit more about her experience in Lexis Byron Bay
Tell us a little about yourself
My name is Ambre, I am 17, turning 18 next week! I’m from a small town in Belgium called Namur. My favorite things to do include swimming and surfing. I would also like to try Windsurfing!
Why did you choose to study in Byron Bay?
I didn’t know about Byron Bay until my Mum showed me about it. I don’t really like big cities and I also love the ocean, so Byron Bay was a great fit!
What has been your most magical moment in Byron Bay so far?
I watched the sunset whilst sitting out in the water on my surfboard. That was probably my favorite moment so far.
What are your favorite things about Byron Bay?
I like that it is a small town, and you can access everything you need by bike or by walking. Also, the nightlife seems good!
What were your weaknesses in English before coming to Australia? Tell us more about your teachers and classes.
Speaking was my main weakness, I learnt a lot from my English teacher in Belgium, though. Kathleen and Dan are my teachers, and they are great- I also really like my class. We recently went out to dinner together to a new Korean restaurant.
Are you in homestay? If so, how is it?
I love my homestay family – they are so lovely and they cook great food!
What is your favorite thing about Lexis Byron Bay?
I love the people; the teachers and I also love participating in the activities.
