Some of the words and phrases our students learnt included:

  1. ‘Good on ya mate’ = Good job!
  2. Tinnie = Beer
  3. Arvo = Afternoon
  4. Servo = Service station
  5. Sheila = Woman
  6. Bloke = Man
  7. Avo = Avocado
  8. Ta = Thank you
  9. G’day Mate = Hello
  10. Macca’s = McDonald’s

Img 2328 ScaledAfter discussing some slang and having lots of laughs, the Australian food was brought out, which is what the students were most excited for.

Img 2340 ScaledThe students tried Milo, Vegemite, Fairy Bread, ANZAC Biscuits, Lamingtons, Tim Tams, Twisties, meat pies and sausage rolls!

Aussie FoodANZAC biscuits and lamingtons were fan favorites, whilst as usual, vegemite was the most disliked.

Img 2329 ScaledThe students also mentioned that they loved the Tim Tams, but had already tried them, so they weren’t as impressive as the other food.

Our students absolutely love this activity, it is always a hit! We can’t wait for our next Aussie food and Slang activity.
