Last week, our students had the chance to taste test some popular Australian Beers!
We sat outside on the soft grass, soaking up the warm spring sunshine, and sampled a selection of beers that offered a little something for everyone. It was the perfect way to relax, enjoy the weather, and explore the flavors of some iconic Australian brews.
We started with XXXX Gold Lager, a classic mid-strength beer known for its smooth and balanced flavor. Slightly heavier than the lighter beers we tried later, it has a malt-forward profile with subtle hints of bitterness, making it a reliable choice for those who prefer a traditional lager.
Next, we moved on to the Balter Cerveza, a Mexican-style lager brewed right here in Australia. This crisp and refreshing beer was a crowd-pleaser, evoking memories of sunny beaches and tropical getaways. Its light body, subtle hop bitterness, and clean finish made it a perfect drink for the warm afternoon.
The third beer on our list—and the overall favorite—was Stone & Wood’s Pacific Ale, a local Byron Bay gem. This ale stood out with its light, fruity aroma, featuring hints of passionfruit and citrus. It was incredibly refreshing, with a soft malt profile and a clean, slightly dry finish. It’s no surprise why this ale is a favorite among beer lovers!
We also tried something a little different with Little Dragon Ginger Beer, made locally in Byron Bay. This zesty and spicy brew offered a burst of ginger flavor balanced with just the right amount of sweetness. It was a refreshing option and a nice break from the traditional beers we sampled.
The combination of great beers, beautiful weather, and good company made for a truly enjoyable afternoon. Sitting under the clear blue sky, we couldn’t help but feel grateful for the opportunity to experience these unique flavors.
