A Colourful Afternoon of Creativity at Lexis English Brisbane
Bringing Stones to Life: An Artistic Journey
On May 1st, the vibrant campus of Lexis English Brisbane was buzzing with laughter, chatter, and the gentle clinking of stones—yes, stones! Our international ESL students spent the afternoon immersed in a wholesome and relaxing stone painting activity that brought together colour, kindness, and community. What started as a quiet creative session quickly turned into a celebration of culture, creativity, and connection.
Stone painting is not just an art project—it’s part of a global kindness movement where people paint stones, write uplifting messages on them, and leave them in public places to be discovered by strangers. This small but powerful gesture spreads positivity, brings smiles, and reminds us all that kindness can be found in the most unexpected places.
A Canvas of Kindness and Culture
Our students came from all around the world—Brazil, Japan, Colombia, South Korea, Switzerland, and many more. Armed with brushes, paint, and colourful ideas, each student set out to design something unique. Some painted flowers, animals, or landscapes; others chose to write inspiring messages like “You are enough”, “Smile today”, or “You matter”.
It was incredible to see how this simple activity brought out so much joy and self-expression. For many, it was their first time doing something like this, and they embraced it with full hearts and bright smiles. Every stone was different, reflecting each student’s background, personality, and imagination.
Laughter, Learning, and Lasting Friendships
Beyond the paint and pebbles, this event turned into an afternoon of bonding. Students chatted in English, helped each other with colour choices and phrases, and shared stories about similar traditions from their home countries. It was a perfect example of learning beyond the classroom—where real conversations and genuine connections helped students grow in confidence and fluency.
The courtyard was filled with music, laughter, and the occasional paint mishap (which only made things more fun!). At Lexis, we know that the best memories often happen outside textbooks—through shared experiences, new friendships, and a sense of belonging.
