Brisbane – Activity Recap; Indoor Sports, Pavlova Decorating and Weekend Activities – 26th June

Badminton, Pickleball, Decorating an Aussie Dessert – Pavlova and Lexis Weekend Activities

Pavlova

It was another fantastic week at Lexis Brisbane, packed with fun activities and new experiences. We enjoyed some friendly competition at Brisbane Indoor Sports with games of badminton and pickleball, where both experienced and first-time players had the chance to get involved and learn from one another. We also got creative with our Pavlova decorating activity, allowing students to design their own delicious Australian dessert while socialising with friends.

Over the weekend, students made the most of Queensland’s incredible attractions through our Lexis Weekend Activities. Some spent the day exploring the beautiful beaches, snorkelling and exploring Moreton Island, while others took on the challenge of the Story Bridge Adventure Climb at sunset, enjoying breathtaking views across Brisbane. It was a week full of adventure, connection, and unforgettable memories.

Brisbane Indoor Sports – Badminton and Pickleball

One of our favourite activities is heading to Brisbane Indoor Sports for some friendly games of badminton and pickleball. Many of our students were already familiar with badminton, making it the perfect opportunity to showcase their skills and enjoy some friendly competition. Pickleball, however, was a completely new experience for most students. Combining tennis and table tennis, it encouraged everyone to step outside their comfort zones and learn something different. One of the best parts of the afternoon was seeing students help and support each other.

Evelyn and Claire from Taiwan took the lead in assisting some of our quieter students who were less familiar with the sports. They patiently explained the basics, from racket grips to foot positioning, helping everyone gain confidence and join in the fun.

Pavlova Decorating

Last week, students got to experience one of Australia’s most iconic desserts by creating their very own mini pavlovas. Before getting started, we introduced students to what a pavlova is, what it’s made from, and the occasions Australians typically enjoy it, such as Christmas celebrations.

Plates filled with strawberries, kiwifruit, whipped cream, and passionfruit pulp, students carefully decorated their mini pavlovas and got creative with their designs. Once they had chosen, it was time for the best part—trying their very first pavlova. While some students absolutely loved the sweet flavours and crunchy meringue, others found the texture quite different from the desserts they had tried before.

It was such a fun and easy activity for everyone to enjoy, and definitely an activity we will do again!

Lexis Weekend Travel

Over the weekend, many of our students scanned the Lexis Travel QR code and booked themselves an unforgettable adventure.

Ilaria, Theo, Sanjaen, and Nana headed to Moreton Island for a day of exploring, swimming, and soaking up the Queensland sunshine. Even though it was June and technically winter in Australia, they were amazed that they could still swim in the ocean, relax on the beach, and enjoy the outdoors. Wetsuits were definitely needed, but that didn’t stop them from having an incredible time.

Jolina and Hyeonji also spent the day on Moreton Island, where they had the unique opportunity to feed wild dolphins. They enjoyed classic fish and chips with an Aussie beer before watching a beautiful sunset over the ocean to finish off the day.

Meanwhile, Evelyn and Claire took on the iconic Story Bridge Climb, booking the 4:15 pm sunset session. As they reached the top, they were rewarded with spectacular views across Brisbane as the sky transformed into stunning shades of pink, orange, and gold.

Whether exploring an island paradise or taking in Brisbane from above, our students made the most of their weekend and created memories they’ll never forget.
