Fun, Laughter, and Saving Our Furry Friends at Lexis English

At Lexis English, we believe that learning a new language should be fun, memorable, and meaningful. On Wednesday, 05 June, our students and staff proved once again that they not only know how to have fun—but also how to show love and care for Australia’s iconic wildlife. That day, our campus turned into a colorful jungle of wild, silly, and creative hairstyles as we celebrated Crazy Hair Day for Koalas, a special fundraising event to raise awareness and donations for our endangered furry friends.

With music playing, students laughing, cameras flashing, and hairspray flying, the day was an unforgettable experience full of joy, creativity, and compassion. Here’s a look back at all the fun and why it mattered.

Raising Awareness for a Worthy Cause: Saving the Koalas

Australia’s koalas are known around the world for their cuteness, but sadly, they are now classified as endangered in many parts of the country. Loss of habitat, climate change, and disease are all serious threats to their survival.

At Lexis English, we are proud to support efforts to protect them. That’s why, along with other Lexis campuses across Australia, our Brisbane students and staff came together to show their support by participating in Crazy Hair Day. This was not only a fun event, but also a heartfelt initiative to raise funds for koala conservation.

Every dollar raised from raffles, donations, and entry fees for the hair competition went to charities that are working hard to protect and care for koalas. It was a fantastic way to give back to the community and the country we all love.

A Campus Full of Color, Creativity and Kindness

 

From rainbow-colored wigs to spiky mohawks, glittery braids to upside-down ponytails, our students really let their imaginations go wild! Everyone was invited to participate, and we were thrilled by how many students and staff got involved.

Some of the highlights of the day included:

• A Craziest Hair Competition for both students and staff

• A raffle with fun prizes (and lots of winners!)

Even our amazing teachers and staff joined in the fun, showing off their wacky hairdos and their generous hearts. It was a perfect example of our Lexis family spirit!

 

Building Friendships and Learning Beyond the Classroom

Of course, Crazy Hair Day was more than just a fundraising event. It was also a chance for our students to relax, laugh, and connect with each other outside the classroom. For many of our international students, events like these are a wonderful opportunity to make friends, practice their English, and create memories they will never forget.

The afternoon was filled with laughter and warm conversations. We saw new friendships forming, students from different countries talking and laughing together, and a real sense of community across the campus. These shared moments help make Lexis more than just a school—it’s a home away from home.
