A Colorful Start to an Afternoon of Creativity
On a beautiful March afternoon—14/03/2025—the student lounge at Lexis English Brisbane transformed into a vibrant, buzzing hub of colour, laughter, and creativity. The space was absolutely packed with students eager to take part in one of our most heartfelt and wholesome activities yet: Friendship Bracelet Making!
From the moment the first students arrived, you could feel the energy in the room. Tables were covered with colorful beads, threads, charms, and inspiration cards. Some students came solo, others brought their besties or classmates—everyone was ready to get crafty and make something special, whether it was for a new friend, a loved one back home, or even as a fun souvenir of their time in Australia.
The idea was simple: make a bracelet, share a laugh, and connect. But the outcome was something truly special.
Tying Knots and Making Memories
The beauty of this activity wasn’t just in the bracelets themselves (though many of them turned out Instagram-worthy!). It was in the process—the shared stories, the bursts of laughter when a charm slipped off, the excitement of choosing just the right color pattern, and the gentle guidance passed from student to student as they learned to braid, tie, and personalize their creations.
For many students, it was their first time making friendship bracelets, and for others, it brought back nostalgic memories of doing the same thing with friends during their childhood. Language barriers didn’t matter—smiles, gestures, and lots of “oohs” and “wows” filled the room as bracelets began to take shape and students proudly showed off their work.
What started as a simple arts-and-crafts session quickly became a bonding experience. As beads were strung and knots were tied, friendships blossomed. We saw classmates who had only exchanged a few words in class before now laughing together, sharing stories about their countries, and even planning future hangouts.
A Room Full of Laughter, Language, and Love
It wasn’t just about crafts—it was about connection. In a room full of international students, from all corners of the globe—Japan, Brazil, Korea, Spain, Italy, Colombia, and beyond—there was a shared sense of community.
