At Lexis Brisbane, our activities have highlighted the importance of friendship, sunshine, and enjoying everything our lively city has to offer, including making an Australian favourite dessert. It’s been a wonderful start to the year, filled with shared holiday experiences and new adventures. We believe that learning happens everywhere—not just in the classroom—allowing everyone to use English in real settings while building strong connections and creating lasting memories with their friends.
We have been making the most of Brisbane’s sunshine by coming together for a week full of fun, teamwork, and a true taste of Australian culture. From energetic football matches played under the warm sun to highly competitive board games and intense UNO battles enjoyed with bowls of popcorn, the activities created the perfect space for laughter, friendship, and natural English practice. The highlight of the week was working together in the kitchen to make a classic Aussie favourite — Hedgehog Slice. Mixing, learning, and sharing this delicious dessert was not only a fun hands-on experience but also a great way for everyone to connect, collaborate, and create sweet memories outside the classroom.
Football Match in Botanical Gardens
The Botanical Gardens came alive with energy during our football match, led by team captains Anthony and Ignacio in a thrilling and fast-paced game. The competition was fierce, with Gabriele absolutely on fire, showing off his impressive skills on the field, and Lizon scoring an amazing goal that had everyone cheering. Off the pitch, Sagri, Bigna, Nat, Marion, Sophie, and Nathalie soaked up the sunshine, relaxing on the grass while watching the match and playing games together. It was the perfect mix of sport, sunshine, and friendship, making for an unforgettable afternoon in one of Brisbane’s most beautiful spots.

Popcorn and Board Games
HedgeHog Slice
We came together for a fun and delicious activity, making a classic Aussie treat — Hedgehog Slice. We have printed recipes ready to go for everyone to follow along. Working as a team, everyone helped mix, prepare, and learn the steps while chatting and laughing along the way. The best part was, of course, tasting the final result! Sharing this sweet dessert was a great way to experience Australian culture and enjoy a well-earned treat made together.
One of our wonderful teachers, Hana, joined in the fun and had the very important job of taste-testing every dessert the students created. She loved them so much she couldn’t stop eating! While some found the desserts extra sweet, everyone had an amazing time baking, laughing, and working together. A huge congratulations to Sagri, Bigna, Estelle, and Marion, who took home the champion title of Best Bakers at Lexis Brisbane!

Thank you to everyone who joined our Activities this week!
