Bildungsurlaub in Australia
If you work in Germany, you may be entitled to Bildungsurlaub (also called Bildungszeit or Bildungsfreistellung), paid educational leave, typically five working days per year, that your employer must grant for a recognised course. Lexis English campuses are recognised for Bildungsurlaub by German federal states, so you can turn that entitlement into an intensive English course on the Australian coast.
How it works
Three steps, and we handle the paperwork at every one of them.
1. Check your Bundesland
Recognition is granted per campus, per federal state. Tell us your state, preferred campus and dates and we’ll confirm your course is recognised: in writing, with the certificate your employer needs.
2. Apply to your employer
Submit the recognition certificate to your employer. Most states require you to apply several weeks in advance (often six or more), so start early. We’ll turn the documents around quickly.
3. Study full-time, certificate included
Complete your full-time course and we issue your attendance certificate (Teilnahmebescheinigung) for your employer at the end of your stay.
Where Lexis is recognised
Lexis English campuses hold Bildungsurlaub recognition across numerous German federal states: including Berlin, Brandenburg, Bremen, Hamburg, Hessen, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Niedersachsen, Rheinland-Pfalz, Saarland and Sachsen-Anhalt: with the exact list varying by campus. Because recognition is state- and campus-specific, always confirm your combination with us before you apply to your employer: use the enquiry form below and we’ll reply with written confirmation for your Bundesland.
Courses that qualify
Bildungsurlaub requires full-time, intensive study, these Lexis courses fit, and most students pair the course week(s) with annual leave to make a longer Australian stay of it.
